Welcome to Willow class,
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you all back to school, hoping you all had an excellent summer holiday.
In Willow class, there are currently 7 children and our class teacher is Mr Morris. We have two wonderful Special Needs Teaching Assistants who are Miss Barraclough and Miss O’Keefe. We are similar to that of the Early Years Foundation Stage, which is a play-based curriculum for, which allows children to explore and learn in an environment that is secure and safe, yet challenging. We have a wonderfully refurbished outdoor area for children to develop specific areas, which will enable them to be self-motivated, who are confident to succeed.
Within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, we provide activities and make assessment judgements based on the seven areas of learning: 3 Prime Areas and 4 Specific Areas.
We personalise support for individuals, which extends their range of emotional, social and behavioural skills whilst achieving appropriate learning outcomes. We set constant, achievable personal and behavioural targets with pupils through providing a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, which creates a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
During this autumn term, our topic is ‘Rainforests. Our writing focus in English this half term is ‘The Papaya That Spoke’ developed by Pie Corbett’s Talk for Writing. During Maths, we will look at place value and work hard on counting forwards and backwards, whilst recognising and writing numbers.
This half term we will be swimming every Thursday and taking part in football coaching sessions on a weekly basis (Wednesday) delivered by Bradford City Coaching. We will also have one cooking session per week on a Tuesday.
We aim to plan for many exciting opportunities for the children throughout the year, to ensure they are stimulated and interested in what they are being taught during their time at Park Primary PRU.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our class.
