Welcome to a new year at Park PRU! My name is Miss Boothroyd and I’m the new teacher working with Oak class this year. For the past two years I’ve been teaching in Dubai, however, I am now looking forward to teaching here back in the UK! I am hoping to develop each child’s progress socially and also academically whilst having lots of fun at the same time.

Oak is one of our new Key Stage 3 classes and will be made up of 5 students, ranging from year 7 to year 9. As pupils in Oak will be KS3, our expectations are that children start to take increasing control of their learning and behaviour. Miss Boothroyd as the class teacher with Miss Dove and Miss Waterhouse supporting as SNTA’s. I look forward to getting to know each of the children over the next few weeks and build on their successes. Our aim is to make sure that each child is equipped to develop in all areas of the curriculum and to provide a personalised support system for all children. We will be constantly reviewing targets to make sure they are challenging but achievable to allow the children to stay motivated and resilient whist making progression.

This term we will be starting project based learning which will incorporate foundation subjects for an immersive way of learning. We will start by focusing on ‘Urban Art’, throughout this we will be looking at urban artists including Banksy.

On Tuesday and Thursday morning we will be taking part in football, looking at different skills and circuits to improve our general fitness. We will also be accessing fortnightly cooking sessions were children have the opportunity to make both savoury and sweet dishes.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our class.
