Welcome to the year ahead at Park Pru and one of our Key Stage 3 classes - Oak class. I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you all to Oak class. We hope to continually build on previous year’s successes, seeing the children develop the appropriate skills ready to leave school is extremely rewarding. The development of maturity and the behavioural, social and academic progress they make alongside our current cohort of children is an absolute testament of character to all of them. We will strive to continue to see improvements of all the children in the class.

There are currently 7 pupils, with Mr Morris as class teacher, Miss Waterhouse and Miss Henshaw as Special Needs Teaching Assistants. Our aim is to provide high quality learning experiences for all pupils whilst promoting the positive ethos of the school. We personalise support for individuals, which extends their range of emotional, social and behavioural skills whilst achieving appropriate learning outcomes. We set constant, achievable personal and behavioural targets with pupils through providing a safe and stimulating environment for pupils, which creates a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

During the year our topics will focus on 'What Makes Us Equal', 'Exporation' and much more. We have planned for many exciting opportunities for the children throughout the year, to ensure they are stimulated and interested in what they are being taught during their time at Park Primary PRU. We will continue our outdoor learning through our links with the fantastic Doe Park. Our class will have the opportunity to take part in activities such as, canoeing, archery, mountain biking, rock climbing and much more. Alongside Sycamore class we will be completing outdoor activities on a weekly basis based around a ‘forest schools programme’.

In Maths we will be working hard on consolidating our knowledge of place value including decimals. We will also be developing our knowledge of our times tables and their corresponding division facts. As well as problem solving through practical activities.

During Autumn 1 we will be taking part in football coaching sessions (Wenesday AM) on a weekly basis delivered by Bradford City Coaching, as well as weekly P.E sessions with Mr Morris. In Autumn 2 we will be taking part in weekly swimming sessions.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our class.
